Retro GP Canal de Castilla

The Retro GPCC ride (Sunday 19 July 2015 at 9am) is the smaller sister event of the GPCC. It is a ride reserved for 100 “Retro cyclists”, who:

-Use only racing bikes made prior to 1987 (which must have the gears on the frame and not the handlebars, save exceptions which have been expressly approved by the organisation). NOTE: Brake cables must be OFF the handlebars.
-Do not bring Mountain Bikes (MTB) or any other bike other than a racing bike.

Author: Carmelo Ortega. Only type of bicycle admitted in the Retro GPCC
-Only dress in vintage maillots (made prior to 1987 or woollen or a modern imitation of teams from before 1987). Cycling shorts should be black or from the same team as the maillot.

No cyclist will be able to participate if they do not comply with the specified requirements. We would like to point out that we will be very strict with the compliance of these rules for the benefit of the essence and style of the event, apart from exceptions which have been previously justified before confirmation of the registration.

IMPORTANT: In the event that someone initially declares upon registration to comply with the rules and then upon confirmation of the registration it proves to be otherwise, this person will not be admitted on the ride and their registration refunded.

Medina de Rioseco will also be the start and finish of this ride, which will be 67km long through the provinces of Valladolid and Palencia, sharing much of the same route at the beginning and the end as the longer race.

The 25km of unpaved sections are marked in a different colour,

The colour code in the profile of the UNPAVED SECTIONS is as follows:

YELLOW: Towpaths (unpaved roads running parallel to the Canal del Castilla).
BROWN: Strade bianchi (agricultural lanes).

Rustic-style food and refreshments (do not expect energy bars, gels and suchlike, but wine and traditional food) will be provided halfway along the route, in the historic town of Ampudia.

Speed will be controlled at all times, riding as a group at a pace set by the organisation, except in the last 13.5km along the Canal de Castilla  where there is no speed control.
